Felicia Thames has been hired as the new principal for Prairie View Elementary School.
Thames is currently the associate principal at Prairie View Elementary. Previously she worked as the dean of students at Central Middle School. She joined Eden Prairie Schools in May 2005 and worked as a classroom teacher at Forest Hills Elementary and also served as the FRESH Learning Center coordinator for two years.
“Felicia brings a deep commitment for the success of every student to her work and has demonstrated this commitment in every role she has held,” said Superintendent Dr. Curt Tryggestad. “She has a passion for equity and is already a highly valued and respected leader at Prairie View and in the Eden Prairie Schools community.”
Thames has bachelor of science degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in teaching and learning from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and an education specialist degree from the University of St. Thomas.
“I am humbled and honored to serve as the next principal of Prairie View Elementary School,” said Thames. “I am thrilled to continue working with amazing staff, students and families.”
The district will begin the hiring process for the associate principal position at Prairie View. The school’s current principal, Dr. Carol Meyer will retire at the end of the school year.
