Eden Prairie High School’s 8th Annual Insights Celebration takes place Saturday, April 21 from 5-9 p.m., bringing together 68 students with and without disabilities for a semi-formal dinner and dance.
Insights Celebration is designed for EPHS students with disabilities and their peers in general education who have built friendships through inclusion experiences at the high school including Music Insights, Peer Insights, Y’s Act, and Friends Forever. The evening includes a grand march, catered dinner, and dance.
“This gives many a chance to attend a fancy party in a familiar, small and well-controlled environment,” said EPHS teacher Jill Boyd. “Many of these same kids do not attend prom or other school dances; not because the doors aren’t open for them, but because the environment can be overwhelming for our students.”
The Insights Celebration tradition began in 2011 with three seniors bringing the idea to Boyd. This year, 13 students were part of the Insights Celebration committee.
