Congratulations to Sally Pearson and Nathan Volz who were selected as Eden Prairie Schools 2017 Triple A Award nominees. The Triple A Awards recognize seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field and in the fine arts.
Pearson is a part of the National Honors Society, and is a National Merit Commended student and AP Scholar with Distinction. Pearson has been involved in band, choir, one act play, speech team, nordic skiing and tennis. She received all-conference honorable mention twice for tennis and received the Minnesota Tennis Coaches Association Academic All-State Award.
Volz is involved in band, swimming, track and field, and ultimate frisbee. He is also highly involved in music, where he plays the piano, french horn and mellophone. Volz served as Brass Captain in 2016 and the band won the Outstanding Horn Line award at the state championship. He is also the french horn section leader for wind ensemble and serves as the president of the brass choir and french horn club.
Pearson and Volz will also be considered for the Region and State Triple A Awards. Candidates are selected through a multi-level process involving Minnesota State High School League member schools, the League’s administrative regions, and a special committee of educators, business leaders, and members from the fine arts and athletic communities.
Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award (Triple "A" Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to high school seniors who have a “B” or better grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
