Please join us in recognizing Connie Hytjan, Principal of Forest Hills Elementary, for National Principals Month. We asked Connie a few questions about her motivations as an educator and leader. Here are her responses:
Why did you choose education?
I have always had a passion for working with children. As a child, I loved school and I did everything I could to be a part of learning. As a little girl, I played school; as a teen, I volunteered in the childcare room at church. I taught Sunday School, I babysat, and prior to and during college, I was a playground/ recreation summer coordinator.
What gets you out of bed?
I love my job of serving our Forest Hills community. No two days are the same and there are always surprises in my day; problems to solve; families, students, and staff to support; and fun to be had. Watching our staff and teachers interact with our students, building strong and positive relationships, inspires me. Having grandsons in the district also influences me – knowing that they are members of our district community makes my work very personal as I want them to have only the best educational and school experience.
Stay tuned for more stories about each principal as we post their photo and story this month.
