Associate principal of student activities at EPHS selected

We’re happy to announce that Russell Reetz will be associate principal of student activities for Eden Prairie High School. He comes to us from Prior Lake High School and will start sometime early in the new calendar year.

“We’re thrilled that Russ will be joining us as an Eden Prairie Eagle,” said Principal Robb Virgin. “He is a student-centered leader with experience well-suited to continue to the tradition of excellence we have here.”

Mr. Reetz has been director of student activities at Prior Lake High School since 2015 and prior to that, held a similar position at Lakeville North High School for two years. He is a current member of the Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors where he is the lead instructor for head coach certification classes. He also served as a technology specialist and assistant athletic director for Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools. Between 2001 and 2011, Mr. Reetz was a physical education/adapted physical education and health teacher at Prior Lake and Roseville Area High Schools. He was head coach of track and field and varsity assistant football coach at Prior Lake and Roseville Area High Schools. He was an adjunct professor at Twin Cities Teacher Collaborative.

Mr. Reetz has a Master’s degree in education from Saint Mary’s University and additional graduate credits in instructional strategies from Loyola Marymount University. His Bachelor’s degree is from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

In September, Eden Prairie Schools announced that Mike Grant is stepping down as the high school’s athletic director after 19 years, and he will remain varsity football head coach.
