Back to School Information

Student classroom assignments for the 2024-2025 school year will be available on the Parent Portal as well as the Infinite Campus App on your phone or tablet starting Monday, August 26th, at 4:00 p.m.

August 28: Oak Point Back to School Night 4-6 p.m. Please stop by the cafeteria to “check things out” before starting your visit. The cafeteria will have several information tables that you will not want to miss. You will can:

Purchase student planners for grades 1-3 ($5.00); Students in grades 4-5 will use school iPads in lieu of planners.
Learn about the PTO.

After visiting the cafeteria, you can:

Find your classroom (maps are available in the cafeteria and the OP office located on the bottom floor near parent drop-off/pick-up).
Put your school supplies in your classroom.

September 2: NO SCHOOL

September 3: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

September 19: Open House Night 4-5:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to provide you to see your student(s) learning environment. Students and parents are both encouraged to attend.

October 1: Picture Day

October 24: Picture Retake Day

School Timing

SCHOOL START & END TIME

School starts at 7:45 am. Doors will open at 7:30 am. Students may enter at that time. Students are NOT allowed in the building prior to 7:30 am.

At 7:46 your student will be considered tardy. School doors will lock at that time, and you will be asked to sign in your student at the office. They will be given a pass and we will make sure they get to their classroom.

School end time is 2:15pm.

If you need to pick your child up during school, please send a note with your child stating the time and reason or call the man office. If you need to pick up your child early, please do so by 1:45pm. Picking up your student afterwards causes a lot of congestion in our pick-up and drop-off loop. Also, if you know you are going to be late picking up your student, please notify the main office. All students should be picked up no later than 2:30 pm.

If your student will be late or absent, please notify the Attendance Line with a tardy/absence reason or submit an absence online. Attendance Policy

Drop-Off/Pick-up Loop Procedures

MORNING DROP-OFF & AFTERNOON PICK-UP:

Drop-off and pick-up for Oak Point students is 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. and 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. All drop-offs and pick-ups by car will be in the lower parking lot (Door #12).

If you choose to drop off your student(s) using the parking lot we ask that you park your car in a parking spot. This helps with the flow of traffic and prevents blocking others during arrival. We also ask that you walk your student(s) safely through the lot. There are many vehicles moving during that time and adults walking with their scholars is the best way to keep everyone safe in that space. There is NO Student Drop-Off in the parking lot. This must be done in the drop-off loop. Please keep in mind that students will not be allowed in the building before 7:30 a.m.

Procedures:

•Form 2 lines as you enter the parking lot area. Use a “Zipper Merge” as you near the drop-off/pick-up loop.

•All cars must enter and exit through the drop-off/pick-up loop.

•Pull as far forward in the loop as you are able based on the cars in front of you.

•Drivers and other adults should stay in the vehicle.

•For the safety of our students, all children must exit and enter vehicles on the curbside. Students will do this on their own, but if they need some help staff members are there to greet and assist them.

•Wait for the cars in front of you to move ahead. Please do not “jump” the line of traffic.

•BE PATIENT! It takes time to move so many children safely from the cars.

•BE READY! Students must be ready for a quick exit from the vehicle. Please say your “goodbyes” before getting to the loop and have all items ready to go. If this is difficult for your child to do relatively quickly, please consider the option of walking your child to the door.

All students can get one breakfast and one lunch free of charge each day at school.

In addition to regular servings, students may purchase extra lunch or breakfast items by depositing funds in the student's Food Service account. One-time or recurring deposits can be made through Parent Portal or by check. Make checks payable to EPSD (Eden Prairie School District) and placed in an envelope with the student's name on the front. All students will be assigned a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Although no application is required to receive free meals, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important! Your child(ren) may qualify for other benefits like reduced fees at school. Your application may also help the school qualify for education funds, discounts, and other meal programs.

The Parent Portal is an important tool that will allow you to access student grades, review attendance, add money to your students lunch account and MORE! If you need assistance with the Parent Portal contact the Parent Help Desk at 952-975-7094 or email them at helpline@edenpr.org

It is important that your email address is updated with our school. You will receive important communications via email, such as early dismissal for severe weather, or other district and school events and notifications. If your email address needs to be updated, please make the change through the Parent Portal. This is how you will receive most school communications.

Student Accident Information/Insurance: The Eden Prairie School District does not carry accident, disability, or medical insurance for students. Students should be covered through the student’s family medical coverage (including the cost of ambulance services). The district does carry public/general liability coverage for district premises and/or employee negligence.
