What is Mosaic?
Mosaic is a full-day classroom program for highly-gifted students in grades three through five. The program provides challenging curriculum at an accelerated pace while meeting the unique academic and social/emotional needs of these learners in a supportive educational environment.
The Mosaic curriculum uses best practices for gifted learners by integrating higher-level questioning, critical thinking, and deep discussion in all classroom activities. This rigorous curriculum meets and/or exceeds state content standards. Throughout the year, students explore subjects using project- and inquiry-based learning.
This program follows a school-within-a-school model and is offered at Eden Lake and Prairie View elementary schools. Students who live within Eden Prairie Schools boundaries are offered free transportation.
Application Process
Families are invited to apply for the Mosaic program beginning on Nov. 1 for the coming school year. For example, families who wish for their student to enter Mosaic in third grade should apply for the program during the student’s second grade year. Applications for this program are due on Jan. 14, 2026 at 4 p.m.
An informational meeting regarding the Mosaic Program will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 6-6:45 p.m. at the Central Middle School Community Room. The information that will be shared at the meeting will be the same content found in the video presentation located on this site.
If you are submitting a Mosaic application and your child doesn’t currently attend Eden Prairie Schools, the identification committee will review your child’s testing from the current school, and additional achievement and/or ability testing may be needed. These assessments will take place at the Administrative Services Center (8100 School Rd., Eden Prairie, MN, 55344) on the following dates:
- Wed, Jan. 21 (Achievement Testing), 3:15-5:15 pm
- Tue, Jan. 27 (Ability Testing Part 1), 3:15-5:15pm
- Wed, Feb. 4 (Ability Testing Part 2), 3:15-5:15pm
The Mosaic Identification Committee considers subjective data from teachers and objective measures of ability and aptitude/achievement. All placement decisions for the Mosaic Program will be communicated to families by the second Friday of April.
If you need support completing an application, please email EPGiftedTalented@edenpr.org with your request. We will email you if additional information is needed.
Appeal Process
Families may appeal current placement decisions by emailing a request for reconsideration to EPGiftedTalented@edenpr.org. The Mosaic Identification Committee will review the request and determine the appropriate next steps. Any further assessments will be administered by Eden Prairie Schools. Reassessment options are only available once per calendar school year.
