Distance Learning

Students engaging in distance learning have access to appropriate educational materials and receive daily interaction with their licensed teacher(s).

Teachers will be accessible via phone and online (email, Schoology or Seesaw) from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Monday - Friday) on Distance Learning Days to assist students and parents. All days designated on our school calendar as student contact days are considered Distance Learning Days.

Lessons will be posted by 9:30 a.m. on a Distance Learning Day in the Schoology course for each subject. In addition, some of our teachers will be using See Saw. Individual teachers will share their plans with families they serve.

Each teacher will be communicating with families about how to access the tools they are using for their child’s Distance Learning plan.

Yes-Teachers will use student discussion responses and/or other interaction responses (i.e. Google Docs, videos, emails, assignment submissions, photos) to record attendance in Campus at 3:30 p.m. on a Distance Learning Day.  Students who do not participate in the Distance Learning day are reported absent. According to MN Statutes 120A.22, subdivision 12, student absences will be marked excused or unexcused at the building level upon receipt of communication from home. Parents/Guardians should continue to call the Eden Lake attendance line, 952.975.8401 should their child be ill or unable to join the Distant Learning plan for the day.

Yes. The Content Specialists along with the Classroom teachers will share the plan for embedding Specials into the child’s Distance Learning Day. The Specialists will continue their 4 day rotation as they have typically followed.  Tuesday, April 7th is a DAY 1.

The deadline for work completion will be determined and explicitly communicated by the teacher through Schoology or See Saw.

We know that routine is important, whether at home or at school. Creating structure at home is one of the best things you can do to support your children in their learning during this time. Teachers will be providing guidance around schedules and expectations tailored to grade level and courses. We have also provided resources on supporting distance learning at home to support your family with this process.

If your student needs help with a distance learning assignment help is here. Starting Wednesday, April 29 parents can call the Assignment Assistance Line at 952-975-7140 or 952-975-7144, and for Spanish call 952-975-7146. Your request will be immediately sent to an Assignment Assistant who will call the student. The session may progress to a video meeting if necessary. Assistance hours are Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Teachers will use the first day of Distance Learning, Tuesday, April 7, as a time to set clear expectations with students via Schoology or See Saw.  
 

If a staff member is absent for any reason, the absence will be communicated to students in Schoology or See Saw along with assignments for students to complete.

• An assignment will still be posted for students (similar to sub plans).
• Another teacher will be facilitating the learning for the students impacted on the day their teacher is absent.

Special Education case managers will check in with students on their caseload by 11:00 a.m. to discuss the work that needs to be completed at home. On a regular basis, Special Education Teachers, ESL teachers, and Title I /Reading Specialists will work with classroom teachers to modify lessons to support student learning needs.

• Program specialists will work collaboratively with general education teachers to modify/accommodate assignments and to support student learning.
• IEP meetings for students who have IEPs will be done virtually.
• Translator services are available for families in need.

Students can expect to hear from teachers between the hours of 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Students can contact teachers outside of those hours, but should expect responses between 9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
