Secondary Learning Model Update - Feb. 23, 2021

Secondary Learning Model Update - Feb. 23, 2021

Dear Families of Eden Prairie Schools Secondary Students,

We are pleased to announce that students at Central Middle School and Eden Prairie High School will return to in-person learning on March 22. This is the start of the year’s fourth academic term. Students will be at school each day, Monday through Thursday. Friday is a virtual learning day where students work on assignments from their teachers and receive personalized support.

To prepare classrooms and schools for the transition, there is no school for secondary students (including students in grades 7-12 in EP Online) on March 18. There is no other change for secondary EP Online: students will remain in that learning model.

Today’s announcement follows last week’s update from Gov. Tim Walz to allow all secondary students to return to in-person learning.

You have an option for full-time online learning

We understand that some families are comfortable with hybrid learning, and may not be ready to return to full-time, in person learning. You have the choice to enroll in EP Online full time. For more information, please contact the Welcome Center by email or phone, 952-975-7008.

Safety planning

Our safety procedures have been in place all year, and we want to remind you of the following:

  • Students are required to wear a face covering at all times.
  • Social distance standards will follow the state’s updated Safe Learning Plan.
  • Lunch procedures are being reviewed and updated to align with new state guidance.
  • Schedules will allow for handwashing and regular access to hand sanitizer.
  • Staff are required to wear both a face covering and face shield.

The state of Minnesota has expanded public access to COVID-19 testing. We encourage you and your family to access free Covid-19 tests in the community or receive an at-home test.

CMS and EPHS will be communicating additional details about this transition in the coming days. They are planning a safe welcome to school, focusing on care and support for each student as we return to learning in person.
