Please join us in recognizing Nate Swensen, Principal of Central Middle School, for National Principals Month. We asked Nate a few questions about his motivations as an educator and leader. Here are his responses:
Why did you choose education?
I think more than anything, education chose me. My parents were both teachers and when I was going to college, I had a difficult time determining what to do. It wasn't until my junior year that I decided to be a teacher. It was one of the best decisions I've made and I'm incredibly grateful to have been able to serve in public education.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
The challenge of being a principal is what gets me out of bed in the morning! I can't remember the last time that I got out of bed and was not challenged in some way by my job. I simply love to work with people and help both kids and adults become better versions of themselves. It is hard work but always rewarding.
