Three Eden Prairie teachers have been nominated for the 2021 Minnesota Teacher of the Year award. Lauren Scherer, a 7th grade Pre-Algebra teacher at Central Middle School; Courtney Heinz, a 7th grade English teacher at Central Middle School; and Casey Ostdiek, a first grade teacher at Eden Lake Elementary.

The Minnesota Teacher of the Year award, created and sustained by Education Minnesota, is one of the oldest and most prestigious recognition programs in Minnesota. If chosen, the teacher will represent thousands of educators across the state.

The 2021 Teacher of the Year will be named on May 2 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. The awardee will also become Minnesota’s candidate for National Teacher of the Year, in which Minnesota ranks second behind California with four National Teachers of the Year.

We are very proud of this accomplishment and wish our nominees the best of luck!
