Eden Prairie Schools Welcomes New Senior Director of Communications & Community Relations

Eden Prairie Schools has named Brett Johnson, APR, as the Senior Director of Communications & Community Relations. The selection follows an extensive search and interview process. Johnson was hired after former director Jaclyn Swords departed in December to pursue another career opportunity.

Johnson currently is Director of Communications & Community Relations for Eastern Carver County Schools. He has 20 years of experience working in communications, most of it for Minnesota public schools. Before Eastern Carver County Schools, he was Assistant Communications Director in Anoka-Hennepin Schools and worked in Saint Paul Public Schools.

He will oversee all day-to-day district communications, lead the public conversation on Eden Prairie’s education initiatives, and support schools with parent/guardian communication.

“Brett’s experience is a great fit with the strategic direction of Eden Prairie Schools. He knows marketing, new technologies, and he focuses on building public trust. His skill set matches the demands our public has for engagement and transparency,” said Josh Swanson, superintendent.

Johnson starts in Eden Prairie on Feb. 4.
