EP's Academic Excellence Continues with Strong 2020 Graduation Rates

Eden Prairie Schools’ increasing graduation rates shows the district delivering strong academic achievement and closing gaps in racial disparities. The district’s four-year graduation rate for 2020 is 95 percent overall. One-hundred percent of Asian students graduated last year. Over the past three years, the graduation rate of African-American students increased by 15 percentage points to 88 percent in 2020. For Hispanic/Latino students, the three-year increase was 11 percentage points, with 83 percent graduating in 2020. For students of two or more races, the graduation rate was 97 percent in 2020, a 10 percentage point increase from the previous year.

“This reflects intentional work at all levels in Eden Prairie Schools,” said Dr. Josh Swanson, Superintendent. “Seeing more students graduate in four years is an outcome of the broad range of support we provide our students, while inspiring each student to achieve at high levels. The strategies being used by our staff to eliminate disparities, while continuing our tradition of excellence, opens doors for our students and inspires them to go on to higher levels of learning.”

In addition, graduation rates increased for students who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Their 2020 graduation rate was 85 percent, a three-year increase of 14 percentage points. For students who are multilingual English learners, the graduation rate increased by 32 percentage points over three years to 74 percent in 2020. Official graduation rates for the class of 2021 will be released by the Minnesota Department of Education next year.
