Central Middle School teacher Janine Olson has been named the 2019 Minnesota Middle School Association (MMSA) Educator of the Year. The Coleen Yatckoske Middle Level Educator of the Year Award provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding middle level educators in the state.
“I am very humbled by winning this award. I love doing what I do every day and don’t think about it as a job. I enjoy seeing my students grow and learn over the two years I have them in my classroom,” said Olson.
Olson has been teaching special education at Central Middle School for 26 years and wouldn’t dream of being anywhere else because she enjoys working with the staff and students at CMS.
Olson said it is her goal every year to create a positive learning environment by celebrating student successes as often as possible. “Seeing my students smile when they get something puts the biggest smile on my face.”
Olson will receive her award at the 2019 Minnesota Middle School Association State Conference in Bloomington, MN, Dec. 5-6, 2019. Learn more about the award at https://www.mmsa.info/.
