Open Enrollment is designed to enable any student to attend a school or program outside their district of residence. This choice program empowers parents and guardians to select the school that is the right fit for their child, regardless of where they live.
Before Selecting a School or Program
- Identify student's needs and interests and desirable educational experiences.
- Contact school or district office for information on educational options.
- Tour school: ask questions of principals, teachers, parents, and students.
All families wishing to open enroll in Eden Prairie Schools must complete the Open Enrollment Application (printed and filled out) along with the student enrollment forms (Kindergarten and/or Grades 1-12). Kindergarten and Grades 1-12 enrollment forms can be submitted online or printed and filled out. These forms can be turned in to Laurie Hemstock at the same time.
The district will notify the non-resident parent/guardian and the resident district if an application has been accepted or rejected within 30 days of receiving the application for current year enrollment.
The District will accept applicants in the order applications are received, with consideration given to administrative policy. Some schools/grade levels may be closed to Open Enrollment based on class-size targets or school capacity.
If you have missed the January 15 Open Enrollment deadline for the next school year, contact Laurie Hemstock to see if you qualify for a waiver. Open Enrollment Applications are available at any school or the district office.

Children in grades 1 through 12 who attend a school within two miles of their home address are offered busing for a minimal fee. Families can also pay the fee online in the Parent Fee Pay system.
You can register and pay in the Parent FeePay system by logging into your parent portal account in the District website.
- In-District Transfer (2019-20): Eden Prairie Schools maintains assigned boundary areas to keep class-sizes low across the district. A request due to a future move must be accompanied with a lease or purchase agreement of home.
i-Learn Agreement: Each student at Eden Prairie Schools will be assigned a digital device to assist with this mission. Parent/guardian, please review the applicable iLearn@EP Expectations and contents of this Agreement with your child. Please complete this Agreement indicating you and your child understand the responsible use and care guidelines.
Extended Planned Absence Form: According to the Minnesota Department of Education’s enrollment guidelines, we must close your child’s enrollment record if they are absent for more than 15 consecutive school days.
