EP Online Summer SOAR

EP Online is a state-approved comprehensive online education option open to all K-12 students in Minnesota that is committed to inspiring EACH student every day, no matter where they choose to learn. When you enroll your student full-time in EP Online, you become a part of the Eden Prairie Schools community: Your student studies rigorous Eden Prairie curriculum with the guidance of teachers hired and trained by the district, and they graduate with an Eden Prairie Schools diploma. In EP Online, students reach their full potential while enjoying the flexibility and individualized pace of an online learning environment.

In EP Online's Summer SOAR program, students from across the state of Minnesota can earn up to two credits while working through courses at their own pace. EP Online teachers will provide support and answer questions throughout the term.

Students can complete up to two credits in one summer term at their own pace, either at the same time or back-to-back. 

Each section of an A & B course (Algebra 2 A & B, for example), earns a student one credit. A student who wished to complete two credits in a summer term could take Algebra 2 A (1 credit) and Economics (1 credit), for example, or Algebra 2 A (1 credit) and Algebra 2 B (1 credit). 

The price of an EP Online Summer SOAR credit is determined by the school a student attends and, if they are an Eden Prairie Schools student, their qualification for free or reduced-price meals. 

• Attends EP Online or Eden Prairie High School, and qualifies for free or reduced-price meals: Credits free of charge
• Attends EP Online or Eden Prairie High School, and does not qualify for free or reduced-price meals: $200/credit
• Attends a school other than EP Online or Eden Prairie High School: $350/credit

A typical EP Online Summer SOAR course includes digital learning modules and assessments and a final exam. All courses are fully asynchronous (do not require live attendance) and can be completed at a student's own pace. EP Online teachers will connect with students throughout the summer term to offer support and answer questions. 

For the average student, each EP Online Summer SOAR course will require about 120 hours of work time. Over the course of the summer term, this averages to about three hours a day.

All EP Online Summer SOAR courses are fully asynchronous (do not require live attendance) and can be completed at a student's own pace. EP Online teachers will connect with students throughout the summer term to offer support and answer questions. 

EP Online Summer SOAR courses will open on June 12, 2024, and close on August 6, 2024.

Since all courses run at a student's pace, if they finish prior to the end of the summer term, they are not required to do anything else.

In some cases, a student may wish to add another course after finishing one in the beginning or middle of the summer term.  In this case, the family is invited to connect with the Summer SOAR team to explore next steps for their student.
