AVID

AVID is an elective, one-semester class and cohort program at Eden Prairie High School. Students must apply for AVID by submitting an application and obtaining a recommendation from an adult mentor, coach, teacher, or advisor. Students are selected to participate in this program on a voluntary basis and must show determination to academically and personally succeed. AVID students are required to take at least one honors or AP course each year of high school while enrolled in AVID. Through AVID, students learn valuable skills, including writing, note taking, reading, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and critical thinking to help them succeed in rigorous classes. Students also receive support with college and scholarship applications, financial aid basics, preparing for the ACT, and tour college campuses/college fairs.
