The CMS Counseling Department helps students to succeed in their academic and personal lives. Adolescents face unique and diverse challenges, both personally and developmentally, that have an impact on academic achievement. We provide a confidential environment and offer a variety of services to the students and families on our teams including:
As counselors, we understand and respond to the challenges presented by today's diverse student population. We work with students, staff, and parents to provide a positive school environment where kids feel safe and successful.
- Individual, small group and crisis counseling
- Academic support and goal setting
- Peer relationship and communication skills
- Problem solving/decision making/coping strategies
- Non-violent alternatives to resolve differences

GroupsThe counseling department has a variety of groups starting in October and again in February. Students generally sign up for groups in September or October; however, if a need for a group arises later in the year, please contact your team counselor.
Groups meet one time a week for eight to ten weeks on a rotating basis. Some of the topics covered in groups are self-esteem, positive decision making, divorce and separation, grief and loss, and anger management.
