Welcome to Prairie View

  • When our school was built in 1965 we really could view the prairie! Now, we are nestled into the neighborhood that has grown up around us. Because of that and nearby walking trails, many of our students walk and bike to school. It’s part of what makes Prairie View special. Our K-6 environment provides students with academic opportunities to fit each child’s needs and satisfy their curiosities. Our staff of creative and experienced teachers looks for ways to personalize the curriculum to meet the needs of their classrooms and each student. Prairie View students begin their elementary experience with full day kindergarten. Students have access to exceptional technology support and are taught by specialists in the areas of Physical Education, Spanish, Art and Music. Our music program provides opportunities to enhance skill areas starting in 5th grade with choir, band, and/or orchestra.

As they progress through the grades students take full advantage of outstanding facilities including a beautiful media center, three computer labs, two gyms complete with climbing walls, and spacious art room. A collaboration with the City of Eden Prairie provided an edible garden structure next to the playground. Prairie View's inner courtyard, planted with beautiful perennials, provides outdoor classroom space for special learning experiences. A mother duck seems to find her way back to us each spring and hatches her eggs in our courtyard.

Our proximity to Eden Prairie High School makes for other special relationships. Our students are able to walk to the high school to visit the science labs, and high school students walk to Prairie View to volunteer and mentor our students. PV also uses the high school sporting facilities for Field Day in the Spring. Dedicated and experienced teachers create a dynamic learning environment at Prairie View and each student brings a unique perspective. Together they create a special place where everyone grows together. In 2011-12 an emphasis on integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) principles into curriculum was initiated and will continue to evolve as we progressively seek out ways to offer classes the community desires. Our parents are loyal volunteers and great supporters. They plan special events like the fall Read-A-Thon and offer an enjoyable list of family events for outside the school day. We welcome you to join in the fun!
