Frequently Asked Questions
How are the teams chosen? What determines which team my child will be on?
Students are placed on teams based on the combinations of course choices for which they have registered.
Is my child on the same team for 7th and 8th grade?
In general, students will have one team of teachers and classmates in seventh grade and a different team of teachers and classmates in eighth grade. In some years we provide the option to "loop" with the same team of teachers and classmates in both grades.
Where can I pick up my child from school?
You can pick up your child on the west side of the building. Please drive slowly and carefully, and do not stop in the blue-painted handicap parking in front.
What do I need to do if my child is sick for the day or needs to leave for a doctor appointment?
If a student will be absent for any reason, a parent or guardian should call the school at 975-7301 preferably before 10:00 on the day of the absence. If you need to pick up your student early for an appointment, please write a note to be given to his/her advisor. The student will be given an early dismissal slip. There is no need for the parent to come to the office. Just write a note and have the student check into the main office before they leaving or returning to class.
What can I do when my child forgets his/her assignment?
When you get the "I forgot” phone call, tell your student when you will be dropping off the item at the main office. The student can pick up his/her item between classes or ask the teacher for a pass if his/her class is not near the office.
Is there a dress code?
Yes, you may not wear clothing that presents inappropriate language (as determined by each classroom teacher or administrator), drug or alcohol advertising, or ethnic, racial, or sexist put-downs. Your clothing must not become a distraction to the educational environment. See the student handbook for additional information.
Are backpacks allowed?
Because of safety concerns, students will not be allowed to use backpacks during the school day. Students may use backpacks to transport books and belongings to and from school. Backpacks must remain in lockers between 8:45 a.m. and the end of the day.
Can my child carry a cell phone or pager?
Students are not allowed to use or display cell phones during the school day. A cell phone that becomes a disruption in any educational environment will be confiscated by school staff and returned to a parent/guardian. If you need to contact your student during the school day, please call 975-7300 and a message will be sent to your child. Students may also use a classroom phone in an emergency situation. CMS is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones. Also, Ipods, MP-3 players, headphones, etc. are not allowed in school. This is school policy and we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please make sure these valuables remain at home. Thank you for your support.
How can I read the daily bulletin?
A link to the daily bulletin is available at https://www.edenpr.org/domain/322 .
How does my child sign up for an extra curricular activity?
Registration is going on now through the first week of the sport. Registration forms can be found under the Activities Tab on the top navigation bar of the website or you can pick up a form at the table by the CMS front office. Please remember to attach a check for the appropriate amount to the Registration Form and drop off in the basket by the front office. Also, please remember your student must have a physical on file at school in order to participate in a sport. Exact schedules will be given out during the first week of practice.
