Community Involvement
Parent and community involvement is an important aspect of Eden Prairie Schools as it helps create a sense of community where our students, staff, parents, and community members work together to ensure the success of all students. Eden Prairie Schools offers many opportunities for parents and community members to be involved in our schools.
District Volunteers
A variety of district-level committees and advisory councils, such as the Curriculum Advisory Council, Finance Advisory Committee, Special Education Advisory Council, Early Childhood Advisory Council and Community Education Advisory Council, are important ways parents can help shape district policies, procedures, and programs.

Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTO)
The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) at each elementary school is comprised of parents working to enhance your child’s school experience. The group sponsors family-oriented social and/or academic activities during the year and also organizes a wide variety of parent volunteer programs. The PTO plans events that serve as fundraisers with money used for programs and curriculum supplements that directly benefit students.
School Volunteers
Each school offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities that can vary by building and school year depending on need. Some of the possibilities include volunteering in the classroom, computer room, art classes, on the playground, or at lunch. Parents can also help with “Box Tops for Education,” vision and hearing screening, events, field trips and the PTO. If you are unable to make it to school, there are some opportunities to work on projects from home. Please contact your child’s school to learn more about the volunteer opportunities currently available.

Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools
The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS), is a non-profit organization which operates separately from Eden Prairie Schools, but is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the excellence of the district.
The Goals of FEPS include:
- Providing financial support for programs enhancing student learning.
- Working with Eden Prairie schools to invest in students, staff and programs where the identified specific needs aren’t being met through other channels.
- Recognizing and honoring outstanding students, alumni and those who have a significant impact on students’ education.
- Administering major gifts pursuant to donor guidelines.
