The CMS Counseling Department helps students to succeed in their academic and personal lives. Adolescents face unique and diverse challenges, both personally and developmentally, that have an impact on academic achievement. We provide a confidential environment and offer a variety of services to students and families including:

  • Individual, small group and crisis counseling
  • Academic support and goal setting
  • Peer relationship and communication skills
  • Problem solving/decision making/coping strategies
  • Non-violent alternatives to resolve differences

As counselors, we understand and respond to the challenges presented by today's diverse student population. We work with students, staff, and parents to provide a positive school environment where kids feel safe and successful. A counselor is assigned to each student according to last name.

Appointments

Students may schedule an appointment to see a counselor. For more information please call (952) 975-7336. The counseling office is located in room 302.

Groups

The counseling department has a variety of groups starting in October and again in February. Students generally sign up for groups in September or October; however, if a need for a group arises later in the year, please contact your student's counselor.

Groups meet one time a week for eight to ten weeks on a rotating basis. Some of the topics covered in groups are self-esteem, positive decision making, divorce and separation, grief and loss, and anger management.

For more information, contact your students' counselor.

Social Worker

Central Middle School has available the services of a school social worker whose role is to support the emotional and social growth of students. The school social worker assists families, teachers, and other staff in addressing concerns about student emotional and social growth and facilitates connections to needed social and mental health services.

For more information and assistance please contact Linda Yelland, social worker for Central Middle School.

Ms. Yelland is available by emailing Linda_Yelland@edenpr.k12.mn.us and by phone at 952-975-7321.
