Area Learning Center

With only 45 students in the program, each student will have a personalized schedule and dedicated support. Each day, core classes will run from 8:45 a.m.-12 p.m., free lunch will be provided, and flexible options both on and off campus from 12:30-3 p.m. will deepen learning for students — including opportunities for remote work and/or online learning. Our school is based on four key ideas:

1. Project-based learning that includes multiple subjects at once, which allows students to express their learning creatively. For example, students might complete a documentary film to demonstrate learning in language arts, history and computer applications.
2. Individual support for each student through an advisory period that includes counseling in academics, career, personal skills, professional skills and community engagement/service. 
3. Preparation for the real world, including work experience through on-site jobs or career and technical education.
4. Flexibility and finding the right fit for students, to match their interests and learning styles, such as asynchronous courses through our district’s K-12 online school, EP Online.

Our ALC will be located at 11840 Valley View Road in a brand-new space specifically designed for use as an Area Learning Center for students in grades 9-12. It sits on a beautiful 61-acre property next to Bryant Lake, which will provide an engaging and peaceful nature setting that’s ideal for unique learning experiences for our ALC students. Eden Prairie residents will receive free transportation to and from our program.
