Lunch

What's new this year in food service?

New format for the menus this year: choose 1 entree' and choose 1, 2, or 3 sides. In order for this to be a nutritious meal we analyze each menu and for it to be a balanced meal you must always take 1 entree and some sides. Each day is different based on the number of items it takes to have enough calories per age group. As you grow you need more calories that is why each school has more choices. This should assist you in knowing how many things you need to choose in order for this to be a balanced meal.

Eden Prairie Food Service provides a nutritional menu for students and staff. Occasionally customers wish to supplement their lunch and purchase a menu item. Our staff will be happy to sell any menu item ala carte for your convenience. Prices of menu items are available with each site cashier.

Mega bites = an extra entree is $ 1.50 for all students whether full paid, reduced, or free.

Parents of free or reduced students who come to school to have lunch with their children must pay for their (adult and siblings) meals.

Lunch Accounts

Our schools have a computerized lunch system. Each year, students are assigned a personal identification number (PIN) that corresponds to their individual lunch account. Deposits to lunch accounts can be sent to school with students any day of the week for any amount. Any funds remaining in the account at the end of the school year will carry over to the following year.

Please remember that this is not intended to be a charge account. The student's hand will be stamped when 2 lunches are remaining and again when the last lunch is served. If no funds remain in the student's account, s/he will be served a peanut butter or cheese sandwich, milk and fruit. We will charge the student's account $1.25.

Reading the Menus

Sometimes you may notice the initials MLP on a menu. For instance, a menu might say "Mlp ranch dressing." What does this mean? MLP is an abbreviation for Minnesota Lunch Power. It is a program developed by the state that involves taking recipes and converting them to lower fat recipes by changing the fat content. For instance, the recipe might convert oil to water in salad dressing, or use applesauce to replace a portion of the fat when baking.
