All ninth grade students must take one of the three versions of English 9 A & B. This year-long class uses an interdisciplinary approach to combine the content and skills of English and Social Studies. English, reading, writing and grammar skills will be taught and used while studying the events of American History. For instance, students will apply what they learn about paragraph structure while writing a history essay. This class should be taken by students who see the connections between academic studies and current issues.
Instructional Methods: Lecture, discussions, group work, note taking, research, computer work, journaling, film study and reading.
Assessment: Daily work, quizzes, tests, essays, projects, presentations, group activities, final activity.
