Prerequisite: Acting and Theatre Arts or Instructor's approval
This course is designed for those students who wish to work in-depth on characterization using monologue, scene, improvisation, film and other forms of dramatic performance. Students will also read and analyze several plays representing at least three distinct eras in theatre history. Students will develop the independence and confidence essential in creating a characterization both through class/workshop-style activities and a culminating pubic performance.
This course does not count as a required English credit.
Instructional Methods: Lecture, discussions, group work, note taking, research, performance, journaling, memorization, reading.
Assessment: Daily work, student performance review by instructor, fellow students and self-evaluations; test; creative improvisation projects; film work and presentations.
