In 1995 the first scholarship awards were presented to two students. Each award was for $500.00. The criteria for the award established in that first year are still in use today.

The program has grown over the years as the Booster Association has increased its fund raising profile. In 1998 three $500.00 awards were given. This increased to four in 1999. In 2004 the jump was made to the current six awards of $1,000.00 each. To increase the number of students affected, another change was made in 2006 to offer 10 scholarships at $750 each.

The Booster Award was established to honor those seniors who actively support and participate in the co-curricular programs at the high school: fine arts/publications, student government, scholastic, and athletic. We are looking for breadth and/or depth of involvement, including the following criteria:

Academic achievement is not a criterion for these awards.

Applications are available in the Career Resource Center and on the Booster website. (Download the form at the bottom of this page.) We encourage students to be responsible for this process by obtaining the form, filling out the student portion, requesting a teacher, club advisor or coach to complete the recommendation section, and return the completed form to Student Activities.

Senior Connections advisors are asked to communicate the process to their groups when the applications are made available in April. Teachers, club advisors or coaches may certainly encourage deserving students to initiate the process. Completed forms are due in the Student Activities office by Thursday, May 1, 2008.

The scholarship awards will be presented to deserving seniors at the May 15th awards ceremony.
