Volunteer Opportunities

Students can stop in the SLIC room check out one-time or on-going volunteering opportunities such as: helping with pre-school classes at the Family Center, or tutor elementary of ELL students, work with seniors or people with disabilities, Feed My Starving Children, events at the public library, rake-a-thons, and many more. Resources are available to find the perfect opportunity to contribute to your community and explore areas of interest for possible careers.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

  1. Eden Prairie Senior Citizen Bus is looking for volunteers to ride the bus and help the Seniors with their shopping. Various dates are available throughout the summer. Come in the SLIC Room and sign up to help.
  2. The Three Rivers Park District has lots of activities over the summer and is looking for volunteers. Come in the SLIC Room and get information or go online at www.ThreeRiversParkDistrict.org.
  3. The PROP shop would like students who are able to lift furniture to go out with a team on Saturdays beginning at 10:00 a.m. to pick up donations. SIGN UP ON THEIR WEBSITE: www.propshopep.org. Sign up for one or more Saturdays.

Edina/Eden Prairie Police Explorers are looking for new members

Do you want to know much more than the average person about how the police work? Do you want to train, ride along and work with Edina and Eden Prairie's finest? Are you interested in law enforcement?

Training is on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM at the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility. This facility features a defensive tactics room, 2 target shooting ranges, a virtual police simulator, live fire training simulators and much more.

Come by the SLIC Room today and pick up information on what else is offered by the Police Explorers, including how to enroll in the program.

Community Education Classes & Programs

Pick up information in the SLIC room on a variety of Community Education programs for teens and adults such as Drivers Education, PSAT/ACT prep classes, boxing, cooking, cake decorating, language, aerobics/yoga, are classes, and more. Older teens may take adult classes. Website: www.epcommunityed.org

SoulFire Club

SoulFire meets in the SLIC room every week to plan a variety of events for teens such as Prairie Jam, Snow Jam, EP Idol, the SoulFire Stage at Schooner Days, and other teen events. Students can join SoulFire at anytime if interested.
