Nordic Ski Team Captains
Jenna Bjorkman: email
Jenna joined the nordic team her freshman year and has grown to absolutely love skiing. She loves all of the super people and looks forward to the training trips each winter. She thinks skiing on fresh coat of snow is one of the greatest things ever! Jenna also enjoys singing in choir, playing the violin, running, or doing anything outside. She is also a part of the cross country and track teams at the high school.
Kari Mlynar: email
Kari Mlynar (aka MILLS) is a senior captain on the nordic ski team. She has participated in many other high school sports including track, diving, and swimming. She loves nordic because the team is so much fun, she loves snow, the team gets to take a lot of trips and gets to practice at a lot of different places, and because everyone gets really close throughout the season. Her favorite technique is classic. Some of Kari's favorite memories from the ski team are the Maplelag Dance Party 2005, the Yellowstone trip, six flags, and playing catch phrase on trips. Her favorite things to eat are pickles, salted almonds, and Karen Rantala's home cooked waffles! Her least favorite foods include moose and other large game. When Kari is not skiing, she likes to read Harry Potter and go shopping. Kari's goals for the season are to have a really fun season, win conference, and spend less than $150 dollars on hand and toe warmers.
Lauren Rantala: email
Lauren Rantala (aka RANTY) is one of the three girls captains this year, and she is a senior. She also participates in cross country and track, but she thinks nordic is by far the best! Lauren loves skiing because of the competition and intensity of racing. Some of her favorite memories include going to Yellowstone, taking the plunge at Maplelag, and playing the Zip Bong game on the bus on the way to trips! Lauren's favorite foods are grilled cheese and twinkies. Her least favorite foods include hamsters and other various rodents, excluding capybara. Her favorite pastimes include sleeping and eating, preferably at the same time. Other activities Lauren enjoys are laser tag and listening to her Harry Potter ring tone. Lauren's goals for the season are DOMINATING Burnsville, doing well at the section meet, and remembering to put a summer coat on her skis before August. She is planning to ski and run in college. Harry Potter is her soul mate.
Andrew Cregg:
Andrew Cregg is a senior captain on the Nordic ski team. He has been Nordic skiing since he was a little kid with his family. He participated in the Minnesota Youth Ski League at Giant's Ridge in elementary school, and skied with the Superiorland Ski Club in Marquette, Michigan, before moving to Eden Prairie in 9th grade. His other primary sport is soccer- playing on varsity and premier teams for Eden Prairie. Boonie was Andrew's 9th grade soccer coach, and convinced him to continue Nordic skiing at Eden Prairie. He is glad he did- Nordic skiing is great cross-training for soccer, and also a lot of fun!
Jason Mooty: email
Jason has skied since his freshman year and has truly grown to love the sport and his team. His favorite parts are the training trips and racing. Along with Nordic, Jason competes in soccer and track for Eden Prairie and has since freshman year. He is the youngest kid in his family with 3 older sisters, and unfortunately the only skier, although his parents are taking it up this winter.
John Rice: email
I have been a Nordic skier since my freshman year. I've run cross country for two years, and I will be running track for three years coming this spring. I will be turning 18 in April, my favorite color is blue. I like to go fishing, hunting, camping, and ATVing, basically, I love being in the wilderness. I will always listen to anything, anyone has to say, so please don't be afraid to ask me questions, or come to me with any concerns that you might want to talk about. My Favorite Quote is "Never Be satisfied with good, but always strive for great."
