Mock Trial
Grade Level: Grades 9-12
Location: Contact Student Activities Office
Fees: $60
Description: Teams will litigate an actual legal case each year; teams are provided with the case materials which include the problem and rules of evidence and procedure; after students study the hypothetical case, they take "the case to court"; a panel of practicing attorneys and judges hears the evidence and arguments, evaluating the performance of the lawyers and witnesses
Requirements/Expectations: Curiousity, Intellect, and a sense of humor
Season: November-March
Times/Dates: Practices are held from November-March
Registration/Tryouts: Attend organizational meeting in late October; tryout information will be distributed at this time
Awards/Recognition: Certification of participation; district, regional, state and possibly national awards
